What is the purpose of the Tropical Environment Test?

Tropical Environment Test is conducted to determine whether fungal (mold and yeast) growth occurs under controlled conditions in torpedoes and torpedo equipment.

Why is the Tropical Environment Test necessary?

Due to their maritime usage, torpedoes and torpedo equipment are more susceptible to fungal contamination and growth, which can lead to critical function loss. In other words, torpedoes and torpedo equipment should be monitored more frequently because they are more exposed to the high humidity conditions necessary for fungal growth.
